Recently, Chilean government officials have opened the 3 MW Las
Palomas photovoltaic park in Nuble province. The local government stated that
the photovoltaic park located in the Bulnes area is considered to be the
southernmost photovoltaic project in the world and requires approximately 4.2
million US dollars of investment.
According to presidential representative Martin Arrau, the photovoltaic park will help Nuble to attract renewable, clean, low-impact, and community-friendly energy investments.
Ricardo Irarrazabal, Chile’s Deputy Minister of Energy, pointed out that the Las Palomas project proved that it is possible to construct a photovoltaic park in such a southern latitude area.
Solar facilities were developed by local company oEnergy.
General manager Ricardo Sylvester said that the company currently has four
projects under construction.
